Meet Heidie Bellamy, one of Power Living’s 200hr Teacher Training Graduates

We sat down with Heidie for a brief chat about her experience on the 200hr teacher training course, and reflections on the course now that it’s been a few years since she completed her training.

Q: What type of training did you complete with Power Living?

A: I was a student on the 200hr Hybrid course where we had a combination of online learning and in person training

Q: What was the most valuable skill/insight you gained from the 200hr teacher training course?

A: Selecting just one valuable skill from the 200-hour teacher training course is a challenge, but I would say that the ability to lead a class with intelligent sequencing and clear cues stands out. By the time I began teaching, I felt equipped to engage with the room and truly connect with my students. The training emphasised clarity and precision in guiding students through asanas, while also incorporating philosophical insights to enrich their experience, and then allowing space for the students to experience the ‘yoga’ as a residue that is left in their bodies after the asana practice. As a result of my training I came to appreciate teaching as a three-dimensional practice.

Q: Would you recommend the 200hr teacher training course to others? If so, why?

A: Absolutely! I would recommend PowerLiving teacher training to anyone, whether they aspire to teach or not. I found the entire experience profoundly transformative on a personal level. If a single yoga class can have a transformative effect, then completing a 200-hour teacher training is truly a significant step up. I greatly appreciated my teachers; they were supportive, intelligent, and authentic in both their teachings and practices.

Q: Have you started teaching yoga since graduating from the 200hr teacher training course?

A: Yes. I teach at various gyms and clubs (Sporting Club of Sydney and Anytime Fitness) and am also subcontracted to Ryde Council. I also have taught private clients.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us, Heidie!

Real stories : How Bali yoga...

That time I cried in a jungle and found peace It wasn’t a glamorous Bali moment. No infinity pool. No boho outfit. I was sobbing on a yoga mat under a leaky straw roof, trying to meditate at 6:00 a.m. A gecko chirped at me. I think he was judging. But that morning changed me.

Comparison in yoga… It happens to the best of us. We’re at a yoga class (or if you’re like me these days you just log in from your living room), look around, and think to ourselves…. Do I even belong here?  My yoga pants are circa 2008.  My backbend isn’t as deep as it used
